Jay Bender | MD, ABPMR
Dr. Bender is a Physiatrist in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. He obtained both his Bachelor of Science and attended medical school at the University of Nebraska in 1988 and 1995 respectively. After graduating medical school, he completed his internship and residency at the Morehouse School of Medicine in 1997. He also completed physical medicine and rehabilitation programs at the Baylor University Medical Center and the MD Angerson Cancer Center. Dr. Bender is currently Board Certified in both Physical Medicine Rehabilitation and Pain Management. He is also currently a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation, the International Spinal Injection Society, the GA Pain Society, and the American Medical Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Bender is very active in his community. He is a mentor for Omega Psi Phi Incorporated and assists with sports physicals at the YMCA. Dr. Bender was also served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War-Desert Shield-Storm. He has a wife and two children and enjoys fishing, football, and spending time with his family.
